Killswitch Engage formed with the dissolution of heavy metal bands, Aftershock and Overcast, in the late '90s. Mike D'Antonio and Adam Dutkiewicz left their respective bands and recruited Joel Stroezel and Jesse Leach and conceived Killswitch. The name was taken from an episode of the sci-fi cult classic series X-Files. They recorded a demo in 1999 and toured in hopes of finding a recording contract. They released their self-titled debut through indie label Ferret Records. While the album didn't chart, it did catch the attention of A&R execs from Roadrunner Records who signed the band. They released their sophomore set, Just Breathing, in 2001 and managed to score a #37 berth on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.

Killswitch Engage tour dates took them around the country fueling their rising profile. In 2002, Killswitch Engage tour dates were booked on the Road Rage Tour in the UK and The Netherlands with 36 Crazyfists and they continued to schedule concerts throughout 2003 before returning to the studio. They released The End of Heartache in 2004 and suddenly had a hit album on their hands. The disc debuted at #21 on the Billboard 200 and went on to receive a Gold certification. Rolling Stone magazine hailed the record as a "stunning collection" and praised the album's ferocious guitar riffs. Their single "The End of Heartache" was featured in the film Resident Evil: Apocalypse and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Metal Performance in 2004. Killswitch Engage tour dates were booked at the Reading and Leeds Festival in 2006 and throughout Australia.

They released the follow-up, As Daylight Dies, in 2006 which peaked at #32 on the album charts. Their cover of Dio's '80s rock hit, "Holy Diver", became the biggest single of their career and scored them another Gold record. Killswitch Engage tour dates were booked on the No Fear Tour throughout 2007 and they entered the studio to record their most recent album. The self-titled record was released in 2009 and became their first top ten album when it debuted at #7 on the charts. They then signed on to tour along the Mayhem Festival with Marilyn Manson and Slayer that year. In 2010, Killswitch Engage tour dates were scheduled at the Download Festival. Currently, the band is working on new material for their sixth album. With a decade in the business, Killswitch Engage has provided us with the most ruthless and hard hitting metal out there. “People have a certain idea of what this band is, and when they hear the new stuff...it’s a new approach to our style,” vocalist Phil Labonte says. “It’s almost like a new way to look at an old friend."

With a desire to continually evolve, yet retain the trademark heavy and technically-skilled sound that All That Remains has established with the band’s breakthrough album, 2004’s This Darkened Heart, Labonte and company have done just that with The Fall of Ideals. Where the last record found the band intertwining heavy music, virtuoso solos, and unmatchable melody, All That Remains’ current collective goal is to build on elements that the last album only hinted at. “Everything we did on This Darkened Heart, we are turning up a notch,” Labonte says. “This disc will have some of the most aggressive, and some of the most friendly, pieces of music All That Remains has ever written.”

After initially forming in 1998 as a side project for Labonte and guitarist Oli Herbert, the band left a stamp on the underground metal scene with its debut album, 2002’s Behind Silence and Solitude. After bringing in guitarist Mike Martin and releasing This Darkened Heart to rave reviews in 2004, All That Remains landed high-profile tours and shows alongside the likes of Gwar, The Crown, Arch Enemy, Darkest Hour, Shadows Fall, Lamb of God, and Slipknot and toured virtually non-stop, only taking a break in late 2005 to write new material.

The Fall of Ideals is the culmination of the original ideals, ideas, and elements that All That Remains was initially founded upon. Combining the grinding riffs and unrelenting rhythms of death metal legends and the tandem fluidity of Martin and Herbert’s shredding, alongside Labonte’s ever-expanding vocal repertoire of soaring notes and guttural growls, the band has now become everything it has been striving for since its inception.

“We’re now at the point where we're the band I always wanted to us to be," Labonte says. “Musically, we’re capable of doing what I originally wanted to do. As musicians, we can all live up to that goal.”

With producer Adam Dutkiewicz (Killswitch Engage) and engineer Peter Wichers (ex-Soilwork) in tow, and artwork by Travis Smith (Iced Earth, Opeth, Soilwork), All That Remains doesn’t simply possess flashy production, engaging artwork, or memorable songs. Instead, All That Remains has all three integral elements wrapped up in an undeniably heavy and aggressive, yet irrefutably memorable, package.

Taking that package on the road, All That Remains is coming to a city near you as part of this summer's Warped Tour!
